Born in Montreal, Canada in 1954, Kevin O’Leary always had a passion for journalism. He obtained a degree in journalism from the University of Waterloo and began his career as a television producer and anchor for one of Canada’s largest news networks. However, O’Leary’s interest in finance and business eventually led him down a different path.
In the late 1980s, while still working as a journalist, O’Leary co-founded SoftKey Software Products, a company that created educational and productivity software for kids. He eventually became the CEO and guided the company through a series of mergers and acquisitions, eventually rebranding it as The Learning Company. Under O’Leary’s leadership, the company became one of the largest educational software companies in the world, with annual revenues of over $800 million.
But O’Leary’s journey as a journalist never truly ended. He continued to use his platform as a successful businessman to share his thoughts and opinions on business and finance, becoming a regular guest on various news networks and eventually hosting his own show, “The Lang and O’Leary Exchange.” He also regularly contributes articles and opinion pieces to various publications, showcasing his expertise and experience in business and entrepreneurship.
